Ladies night on idol tonight. And IT needs to be brought tonight. Buh-rought. Like Paris-singing-Midnight-Train-to-Georgia brought. Because after listening to the guys performances back, they were even worse than I originally thought.

“How Come You Don’t Call Me” by Alicia Keys – Wow! Already better then the guys! The ending was a little manic, but I’ll forgive her becasue she got down on her knees during the song! I enjoy her, and Alicia is hard to sing. I thought she did really well. Good for her! |

“I Can’t Make You Love Me” by Bonnie Raitt – It was a really nice rendition of an oversung song. I was pleasantly surprised. I disagree with the judges, and I would have given her better reviews than that. |

“Natural Woman” by Aretha Franklin – Has anyone even attempted this since Kelly? I don’t think so. This song is way to big for her, though she sang it just ok. I don’t think a performance like this is going to cut it. I 100% agree with Simon that she is out of her comfort zone. |

“I Never Loved a Man” by Aretha Franklin – She rocked out. I like this girl A LOT. AND she knows how to play the game. I’m tellin you, this is the year of the diva! |

“I Don’t want to Miss a Thing” by Aerosmith – I have to give the girl props for choosing an unconventional song, but everything else about it was wrong. She wasn’t on key until the last line that she sang in her head voice. I’m not sure about her fan base, but if she doesn’t have one she will be out. |

“Give Me One Reason” by Tracy Chapman – I thought it was fantastic and a lot of fun! She can really sing! Way to go, Lisa Tucker 2.0. |

“Stay” by Chaka Kahn and/or Erykah Badu – Well first of all, I couldn’t understand a damn word this girl sang. I took me forever to find out what song this was because I couldn’t google the lyrics because I couldn’t decipher anything. She has a powerful voice, but sounds like she’s yelling. Too bad, because I had high hopes for this girl. If she sticks around (which I surmise that she might) she needs to sing a better song. |

“It’s All Coming Back to Me” by Celine Dion – Haley, thou broketh the first Idol Commandment of Thou Shall not sing Whitney, Celine, or Mariah. She sings through her nose, and doesn’t have the big belter voice that she needs to pull off a song like that. Very cruise-ship-cabaret for me. blah |

“Since You’ve Been Gone” by Luther Vandross – I LOVE THIS GIRL! OMG I think she could win! I will be rooting for you, Melinda! I heart you! |

“Brass In Pocket” by the Pretenders – I am plesantly surprised! I think this was a great fun song choice for her. Good for her. I completely disagree with the judges, here. I liked it a lot. |

“All By Myself” by (most recently) Celine Dion – Oh no she di’int sing what LaToya London sang and in the same round of the competition, no less. Even though no one could match LaToya, she still sang it pretty well (and nearly the same arrangement, too). I think that she earned herself a top 12 spot, at least. |
12. LaKisha Jones![]() |

“And I am Telling You I’m Not Going” by Jennifer Holliday – Big Girl Big Boobs Big Song Big voice! Year of the diva, mark my words! Holy crizz-ap. |
Best Tonight: Any and/or all of the african-american set who sang tonight, mainly LaKisha and Melinda
Going Home: Leslie, Antonella, or Haley
Well, well, well. Look who brought it tonight! Seriously, replace Antonella with Blake, and thats who should be top 12. If I can predict now, I think the top 6 will be 1 or 2 guys and 4 or 5 girls. The competition will be pretty fierce – lets hope they are more creative in their song choice so that I don’t resent the Whitney songs any more than I already do. But seriously, major improvement over last night. MAJOR.
