SLC, Home of Archie-Poo

David Osmond – Yes, as in THE Osmonds.  Don’t you think that he could use his family connections to get somewhere in the music business?  I think he is good, but will the Osmond name be too much baggage for this show?  Hmmm – we’ll see what he does in Hollywood.

Chris Kirkham – Normally I don’t comment on the people who don’t make it to Hollywood.  If you recall, Chris is the one who was accompanied by a large pink bunny.  The thing about Chris is he wasn’t bad.  He also wasn’t good.  Pretty average.  And I know that he would have never been featured without his gimmicky friend, but it was kind of refreshing to see someone average.  He is the kind of guy who would be ok at a karaoke bar–mostly on pitch, kind of boring looking, but not bad.  I surmise that 90% of the people who try out for idol are like Chris (minus the bunny).  I wish we could see more of that–minus the bunny.

Frankie Jordan – Frankie is a mom to a little baby, and her voice has a very old and wise sound to it. I really like this girl.  Her sound is different – almost an Amy Winehouse except minus all the crack.  I am rooting for her. (Frankie, not Amy Winehouse)

Megan Corkrey – Another “old” jazzy sounding voice and she sang “Can’t Help Loving That Man of Mine.”  I have heard a lot of people raving about her, but I have to say that I like Franke better.  i can see that the judges see potential in her, but there were just so many issues!  She wasn’t always on pitch, she really rushed the song, but I guess with a little coaching she could be ok.  Not very pop-sounding, though, so I wonder how far she will really get.

Austin Sineros – He sang Train, and though the judges didn’t like the song choice, I thought it was great!  Then he sang another song by Raffi, and though I have great love for the Raff-ster, that wasn’t a great choice.  I think he is good.  Generic, but good.  But he could grow.  I look forward to seeing him in Hollywood.

Taylor Vaifanuta – Lets go over the comparisons with her and a Miss Jordin Sparks.  Tall? Check. Dark hair? Check. Boyish name that is still cute for a girl? Check. 16? Check. Taylor’s voice isn’t as big as Jordin’s, but it is really pure.  and I think her choice of Joyful Joyful really worked for her voice.  I like her!

Rose Flack – Ok, so she’s an orphan, she has bleach blonde dreads, she’s a hippie, yadda yadda. Last time I checked, this was still a singing competition, and in any year previous to this, Simon would have said “dreadful.” Maybe Paula and Randy would have still put her through, but Simon?  Dude is becoming a softie.  I think this girl will be EATEN ALIVE in Hollywood.  She is this year’s Josiah.

Ok, get your Idol Endurance on, because tomorrow night there is another special episode.  I am willing to sit through this only because having this on a special night is allowing more time for the Hollywood episodes…my favorite!

LOVE your Brooke pic. I was not able to meet her this summer and that makes me sad. I went to the tour in Dallas and Tulsa. She did not come out in Dallas (before the show). She did come out in Tulsa, but there were like 300 people there for Cook and it was madness! She never made it to our side of the barricade :(
