Lil Rounds in the pimp spot! Lil Rounds in the pimp spot! Did I call that one, or what?

“You’re All I Need To Get By” by Marvin Gaye – The vocals were OK, but I was distracted by his weird, monkey-like facial expressions. I was not as big a fan as the judges. |

“If I Ain’t Got You” by Alicia Keys – I thought the performance wasn’t half bad! She is a cute girl, very Jordin-esque. Her vocal ability is great, but I don’t think this song showed it off as well as it could. That said, no bum notes, and no annoying facial expressions, like Von. |

“I Guess That’s Why They Call It The Blues” by Elton John – Full Disclosure: This is my favorite Elton John song, and I have been waiting WAITING for someone to sing this song since season 1! And good God, this was a painful rendition. I mean honestly, Alex! Funny kid, horrid, horrid singer! |

“The Winner Takes It All” by Abba – She has a great voice, but had some weird issues with the big note at the end, but also a whole host of others, too. The arrangement was just weird, and I think she was ahead of the accompaniment for the whole first half of the song. I don’t think it was as bad as the judges said. |

“Hey There Delilah” by Plain White Tees – Well, zero points for changing it up, since we already heard him sing this in Hollywood. Therefore his “original” take on the song is negated. What’s more, is that his vocals were really lost in the background until the very end of the song. I was reminded recently that he auditioned last season, ironically, with I Guess That’s Why They Call It The Blues. I wish he would have come out with that instead. He is like Chikezie 2.0. |

“Give Me One Reason” by Tracy Chapman – I guess I appreciate the attempt at a rearrangement, but I didn’t like it. I think the whole thing was just overdone, oversung, etc. Plus, the girl needs a stylist, big time. And at least she knows it. |

“I Would Do Anything For Love” by Meatloaf – I think I would take him more seriously if he stopped with those ridiculous headbands. Because the arrangement was not too bad, and his vocals were decent. The dancing needs to stop, the jacket needs to go. |

“No One” by Alicia Keys – That was great! There was one bum note, but other than that it was really impressive. We have all seen her performance of this on youtube, and I think she came back fighting tooth and nail. And quite honestly, the other girls have been pretty good tonight, but she is the best so far. |

“Mandolin Rain” by Bruce Hornsby – There were parts that were amazing, parts that were average, but overall, I liked it, and it grew throughout the song. It had a very singer-songwriter vibe–he is like a male Brooke White: not the greatest vocalist, but always singing from the heart, and I can appreciate that. And like Paula said, I can’t wait to see him with the piano. |

“This One’s For The Girls” by Martina McBride – Just an ok voice, had some flat bum notes, and I think Martina is tough to sing, and I think the song was a little to big for her. Maybe a Taylor swift song would have been better? Also, for a fun, bouncy song she stayed in the same spot on stage for the whole song. I mean, even the blind guy stood up and took a few steps. So, not a great entertainer. But cute dress! |

“Don’t Let The Sun Go Down On Me” by Elton John – Well even though this song should be banned from Idol for-a-vah, he pretty much rocked it. He is good–like REALLY good. It will be between him and Scott for the top guy spot. |

“Be Without You” by Mary J. Blige – How predictable for the pimp spot! The performance wasn’t as great as I think she could be. But they are pimping her because they have yet to cast the obligatory black diva. PS, Paula was planning her “many more Lil Rounds” comment for weeks… |
This week was by far the strongest group. The biggest surprise was Felicia, and I hope she makes it through. Lil will be the top girl, and between Jorge and Scott for the guys. Throwing Felicia in as a contender for the last spot. As far as other wildcard contenders, possibly Taylor? Maybe even Kendall, because they have yet to cast the requisite country singer. And Ju’not wasn’t bad, either, but he might get caught in the shuffle. Well, I am off to watch the results on DialIdol.
