I am a little disappointed that we are robbed of the top-five-dual-performance episode, just because of the yip yip yip of the overcrowded judges table. I would rather have had two judges at a time comment with more performances, or even perhaps a 1.5 hour show (Fringe can wait a week!) than siphon down the performance face time. When it comes to this point in the competition, it is only fair to let the kids all perform twice.
I would stop complaining, but it is 8:10 and I haven’t heard a performance yet. So I will keep typing until Kris performs.
Did you see Paula’s dress? She looked like she was growing out of a Valentine’s bouquet.

“The Way You Look Tonight” – Awesome! I can’t believe that Kris said in his video package that he doesn’t think he can roll with any of the singers left, because I beg to differ. He really appears to be coming into his own now, despite the fact that afterward when he and Seacrest were standing together he reminded me of Dunkleman. A much cuter version of Dunkleman, but still. |

“Someone To Watch Over Me” by – Another awesome! I can’t wait for her to make a record, seriously. This performance showed that she can do it all. I’m not quite sure what Simon is waiting for from her. I thought she changed up her look and sound just enough to be respectful of the genre, but not so much that she sold out. I don’t think there is any more that she can do except to continue kicking ass. Go team Allison! |

“My Funny Valentine” – While the first half was rough, the second half seemed to come together. I would say I am halfway between Randy and Simon on this one. The end was really fantastic and I’m glad he sang stuff in his chest voice, because too much reliance on the “false” doesn’t always sound strong and confident. However, I don’t think it was nearly as good as the first two. |

“Come Rain or Come Shine” – I loved the arrangement starting slow and building up, and his vocals were the best in weeks. I still am not on the Danny bandwagon, but think he will at least be heading home to Milwaukee for homecoming week. And like Kara said, he should be singing standards–I could actually see that. |

“Feeling Good” – Adam could do something different every night and I don’t think I could be surprised anymore. The only consistent measure is Screamy. Screamy came out to play tonight on that last note. And his tongue was sticking out tonight. lol! It was great, but not his best. |
Best tonight: Kris, Allison, and probably Danny. This is followed by Adam, and Matt brings up the rear. That said, this was the best overall week of idol this season. There was no one that even infringed on “bad” territory–every one was superb or slightly less than superb. I am super impressed, honestly.
However, it should be Matt going home tomorrow, despite his raving critique from Simon. But right now I need to go vote for Allison.
Save the rocker!
